Sunday February 3, 2013: Lovely weekend

Posted on

We are back home. We had a lovely weekend away. The weather was okay, yesterday it was windy but most of the day it was dry with sunshine every now and then.

We arrived Friday afternoon and after we checked in and put our bag in our room we immediately took Bella and went to the beach. She was brave enough to get wet feet but that was more because she was surprised by the waves coming up. The hotel had a great restaurant where Bella was welcome too and we had dinner there both nights.

Saturday morning we went to a historical city called Brielle and walked around there for a bit. After that we went to a different beach for another walk with Bella. We had dinner again in the restaurant of the hotel.

Today after breakfast we took Bella for a last and her birthday walk to the beach before heading home. It’s her birthday today, she’s now 3 years old. We were home around lunchtime refreshed from a little getaway.

A bummer this weekend was my tooth pain. I’ve been having tooth pain for about 2 weeks now and kept hoping it would go away. Till Saturday the pain was manageable but yesterday I had such heavy stabs of pain I had to stand still and wait till the pain went away. In the afternoon I couldn’t take it anymore and bought pretty heavy painkillers. I’m still using them because as soon as they don’t work anymore the pain is returning. I’m calling the dentist tomorrow because something is obviously wrong. I am afraid of the dentist, that’s why I didn’t go at first when the pain started.

Here are some pics of our weekend.

  1. What a pretty area to visit! And that hotel fireplace looks so inviting…I’d love to sit there with coffee and chocolate cake and just enjoy the atmosphere!

Sorry to hear about your tooth pain – that’s the worst, isn’t it? Go to the dentist and get it taken care of; you’ll feel so much better after that it’ll be worth conquering your fears.

Happy Birthday to Miss Bella – Paco says she’s a little young for him but he’d still invite her over for a play date!

  2. Fran – how fabulously romantic that place looks! Lucky you :D

Hope the tooth thing is a simple fix. I had a cracked tooth that gave me stabbing pains. It was a molar and apparently that is pretty common as you get older. I just needed (just LOL) a crown. At least no root canal.

  3. When you said you were going to the beach I thought you were going somewhere warm lol! Still that does look gorgeous and it must have been so nice to get away.

  4. Love the hotel – I could spend all day by that fireplace with a good book and a glass of wine! Love that you got away – and I am with you on the dentist – I probably haven’t been to one in 10 years! (yikes!)

  5. Awww, happy birthday to Bella! I can’t believe she’s 3 already.
Your trip looks lovely. You’ve made me consider an upcoming trip to the beach and trying to find a place where we can take our dogs with us. Delilah is scared of the ocean (and any body of water where the water laps at the shore such as a lake when boats are on it or it’s windy) but Nova hasn’t seen it yet. I’m impressed that Bella got so close!

  6. Brielle looks like a wonderful city. If I had known when I went to Rotterdam I would have visited that place. Great pictures.
    Happy late birthday to Bella.
Good luck with the dentist. I hope you get well soon.
Chocolate pie and the steak look delicious.

  7. Love seeing your pictures! I’ve never travelled abroad, and would like to see your country one day. It’s comforting to know that the battle to be healthy and eat right is universal. The US is notoriously unhealthy…I’m trying not to be one of those statistics! Your dog is so cute! We adore our dog, too, Jack. His walks are my exercise. All the best to you!
