Sunday February 24, 2013: Positive mind

When I told R. about the complaining about the weather on my last post (which everybody by now is doing here in Holland) he said that he thought that I complained a lot in my posts lately and you know what? He’s right. I usually don’t complain this much and why should I keep complaining about the weather. Yes, it sucks we had snow again today and it’s still cold but I have no influence on it and have to deal with it, why should I let it influence my mood.

So as of today back to normal blogging and look on the bright side of life and see things positive. And I have a good life. 4 More days and this horror month is over and it’s March and I have some fun things planned next month. Not going to tell everything yet but three things are special:

  • I’m doing a 5K race next Sunday, my first official run in almost a year.
  • We have booked a foto shoot. Never done that before.
  • I’m going to my first fashion show ever. The store where I bought my “Christmas” outfit has a fashion show twice a year and every time I get an invitation but I never went, until now.

And what does a girl when she needs more motivation to go out for a run? Yes, she buys new shoes.

One of my Brooks need to be replaced soon and today I bought new ones online. Because I always have the Brooks Adrenaline in the same size, I buy my running shoes online because it’s 10% cheaper than buying them in a running store. At first I thought about buying a “safe” blue pair but ended up buying these cool yellow/purple ones.

Weekly workout review:

I haven’t done anything this weekend. Needed some rest to recharge and make the rest of this year a good year, starting tomorrow.

Meals:

I won’t be posting all my meals anymore only the dinners and when I make something special/different for breakfast and/or lunch.

Saturday

Lunch: I heated a bread in the oven and had “Tuna with a twist” on it. This is tuna already spiced with herbs. I put some rocket salad on top of it.

Dinner: I had one portion WW Bolognese sauce left in the freezer and I cooked some pasta to go with it.

Sunday

Dinner: Japanese teriyaki with basmati rice, a WW recipe.

  1. I appreciate how you include detailed info. on all of your workout accomplishments. I’ve gotten out of the habit and am not exercising much at all. I need all the inspiration I can get! I’ve been focusing on eating healthier food, but I know I can’t win the battle while leaving out exercise. I wrote about an interesting food article that I want to share. http://www.kaki-fitby40.blogspot.com/ The article is eye-opening, and it might even be worth it to read the whole book. I am fascinated by food science. Thanks again for sharing your journey.

  2. Now I’m reminded of Monty Python with your post – I have the song “Always look on the bright side of life” going through my head – so glad to see you feeling more upbeat and positive about life. Yep, weather is definitely one thing we cannot change (says the one who lives in heat most of the year), so you just have to adapt. OK, and complain every once in a while. ;)

I LOVE YOUR NEW SHOES!!! Great color – I’d go for the brights, too!

  3. I don’t blame the winter complaining. It is that time of year, that last endless part before spring comes. It can be depressing.

I also try to always look on the bright side. Annoyingly so to John sometimes LOL! I’ve been finding that a little harder lately, but tomorrow is a new day :D

  4. Winter is hard! I swear I have seasonal depression. I really struggle with the dark mornings, nights and the incessant cold! Hang in there :)

  5. I am with you on the weather sista – we have a winter storm watch in effect for tomorrow – up to six inches possible. :( I am so ready for March!

Glad you were able to turn your frown upside down – just think where we’ll be weather wise in just a mere six weeks!

  6. You can complain when you want and the good weather, for a runner, is very important. (if you hate the “dreadmill”.
Don’t worry for the week end off, rest is as important as the workouts.
Good luck on sunday and enjoy your fashion show.

  7. February is going to an end (and you will be happy for that) but here in Central Italy we sometimes had cold and snow in March … I would not declare victory soon :)

Nice colours of your new running shoes: they will be useful in the dark.
I’ll buy new ones next week!
Enjoy your 5K race next Sunday :)
