After the heatwave last week, it rained last Saturday during the day and at night. Sunday morning the air was fresh, the heat was gone and I took Bella early in the morning for a walk through a park close to home.
We had a couple of cooler days but since yesterday temperatures went up again. Today will be the hottest day of the year so far with temps up to 35C (95 degrees). That’s hot for my country, the highest temperature ever here was in August 1942 when it hit 37.6C (99 degrees). Luckily it’s a dry heat and it’s just hot, hot and very hot but not humid. Tonight we will have thunderstorms and tomorrow temps drop to 26C (78 degrees) which I like better.
I have set some kind of goal for August for myself to walk Bella at least 30 minutes every day. But since it was really hot yesterday after dinner, I waited till 9 pm. At that time it was a little bit cooler but still pretty hot.
That was one hot sweaty humid run! As soon as I started I knew this was going to be a tough one and I immediately decided to run at how I felt instead of hitting a certain pace. I started a new week that had me running for 8, 10 and 8 minutes with 2 minute walk breaks. The first 2 running parts went pretty well but the last 8 minutes were pure torture. I ended up doing that with 1 minute running-walk breaks, everything to get me through the run. And I did, my slowest one in a long time but I don’t care. The conditions were like when I had a DNF twice so finishing it was an accomplishment for me.

Running: 8-10-8 minutes.

Revenge for Saturday’s run: training 2 of week 4 and again 8, 10 and 8 minutes. The weather was perfect for running this time and I did the training as I was supposed too. Great run!
Distance: 4.5 K / 2.8 miles

Photo a day August
I give the photo a day challenge (same as my friend Roz does) another try this month.
August 1: Something that begins with an N
I had been thinking for a couple of days what to photograph that starts with an N and I couldn’t come up with something until yesterday: nose.
August 2: Imcomplete
Something that’s unfinished. I took 3 of many cross stitching projects, all unfinished and therefore incomplete.
