Sunday we went for the third year to the racing day that is sponsored by my company. Again we had VIP tickets which included free drinks and meals. The weather has been the best since we have gone to these races. There were all kinds of motor and car races. One of them, the sidecar race, had a sad ending because one of the drivers fell of the motor and got run over by another motor and sadly he died. The highlight were the demonstrations. This was the first year there was a Red Bull Formula One Race Car that was driven by David Coulthard, formal F1 driver. He came to the VIP lounge in the morning and of course (like many others) I took the opportunity to take a photo with him. There was also a stunt plane that landed on the race track and later flew away again, that was cool to see.
I have decided to take a little break from running. I continue the training next Saturday. I’m tired and need a vacation. Luckily that’s close: next Friday we both have a vacation for 3 weeks.
I also have decided that I’m going to stick to 5K training plans till the end of February. For a couple of reasons, one of them is that I find running early in the morning during Winter hard and training for 5K’s means shorter runs. The other reason is that I want to make real progress with my running and practice a couple of 5K races and try to improve my time before I move on to the 10K.
Zumba Express, total time 20 minutes.
I was supposed to do the 50 minute workout but the DVD disk wasn’t playing in my recorder. I had the Express workout in the box too and decided to do that and look what was wrong with the other DVD later. When I put that in after the workout it was working again. Strange.
Photo a day August
August 3: Skyline
This was taken in the morning from my lounge couch in the garden. After the hottest day of the year, the morning was so refreshing cool and nice.
August 4: Fresh
Strawberries represent fresh for me because it’s a typical Summer fruit and the taste is fresh.
August 5: Early
What represents early to me is doing a workout or run first thing in the morning. I was trying to get the sky in the photo but it was still too dark to shoot a good photo.
August 6: This means a lot to me
I don’t care much for material things, being healthy and happy is more important. However this bracelet does mean a lot to me. I got the bracelet on my 19th birthday from my Grandmother. It’s gold and it had a charm with my initials at the front and my birth date on the back. When my Dad got cancer, he wanted to give me something to remember him. I could choose everything I wanted but I choose a charm for my bracelet. This one says “your Dad” on the front and his birthday on the back. That same year I asked a charm for my birthday from my Mom and R. Both also have their birthday’s on the back of the charm. These 4 charms represents the people I love(d) most in this life, that’s why it means a lot to me.
Monday August 5
“Old” recipe: a salad with brie cheese, strawberries, cashew nuts and honey-mustard dressing. We had some bread to go with it.
Tuesday August 6
New recipe: couscous with honey, wild peaches, pecan nuts and mint. We had grilled chicken marinated in lemon and olive oil with it.
