Friday December 27, 2013: Christmas 2013 in pictures

We started Christmas with our traditional breakfast

I took a walk with Bella, it was a pretty day.

Spent time in the kitchen cooking

Bella’s favorite person (after us of course) came and had a treat for her

We had scones with mascarpone and strawberry jelly with afternoon tea. The scones failed (first time I made them) but tasted delicious despite that.

Our little family (crappy photo, my Mom isn’t the best photographer :) )

No Christmas without a fire

Boxing day we took a walk at the park at “Kasteel Groeneveld”

Tuesday: Running

There was a storm but it was dry and I decided to go for my morning run. I love running with wind but even I have to say: this was a tough one. My Garmin gives stats of the weather when I run in daylight and it says the wind was 40 K/hour (25 miles/hour). When I was running agains it, I almost stood still at times. When I had it on my sight I had to watch I wasn’t blown of the road. But when I had it in my back: AWESOME! Felt like I was flying. I usually have a pace of 6:30 to 7:00 minutes per K but at one point I let the wind pick me up and I couldn’t almost keep up with my own feet. I was looking at my Garmin and came close to a 5:00 minute per K at one point. Awesome run even though it was a slow one because of the wind.

Distance: 4.3 K / 2.7 miles
Time: 00:32:07
Running: 5-6-7-8 minutes.
Weather: dry, storm, 11C (51 degrees)
Last song on Ipod before finish: P!nk – Runaway

  1. So many good things in your pictures! I love the mutual adoration shown in the shot with Bella and your mom. So sweet! You and your mom look alike, too…especially in your smiles. Looks like it was a really lovely Christmas, from breakfast to dinner and everything in between. I have had scones with clotted cream and jam at an English tea room years ago, and it was good. Now, I’m wanting that again!

The castle that you walked about on Boxing Day – is that in your village? It’s pretty tremendous!

A windy run is no fun when you’re running into it, but that feeling of being pushed along, like you got? SO AMAZING. Love feeling like you’re flying!
